Meland Jazzkafe was started in 2012 by musicians Kristine Fluge and Gillian Gjelsvik. Since then, a number of enthusiastic regular volunteers have made the venture possible. The jazz cafe is non-profit and we are happy if we can break-even. This is achieved with the help of sponsors Sparebanken, Meland kommune, sound equipment provided by technician Johnny Osberg, and a lot of goodwill from a lot of good people.

 

Our vision for the jazz cafe is to provide a meeting place for people who like jazz , and  people who play jazz , and people who enjoy getting together with other jazz enthusiasts and listening to good music, and maybe  jam a little.

 

We try to provide a link between established professional musicians and young or newly established musicians, and this has been a popular choice for our many regular guests. Musicians inspire each other and our concerts always end with a 1-hour open mic: A policy that has led to the discovery of some gems!
